Big Foot Scenic Byway  The vast, rugged swath of land in Northern California between Arcata and
Yreka is as beautiful as wild-land gets and perfect for cycling!  A veritable blanket of deep green pine trees arch over you and cover everywhere from towering mountains to the river valleys below. The Six Rivers National Forest, at almost 1 million acres, is reputed to be inhabited by Bigfoot / Sasquatch and why  not?  - it surely could provide a sustainable habitat for anything (or anyone) seeking absolute solitude.  You'll roam CA 96 northeast from Willow Creek along the Trinity River, then the Klamath River all the way to 1-5, plus a pristine piece of Salmon River Road.

UPDATE: In a terrible twist of fate, the day after this video was shot, the massive McKinney wildfire consumed tens of thousands of acres here. Hence this may be the very last beautiful scenery for a generation to be captured of the town of Klamath River and surrounding area as it was all completely burned down. 60 minutes of unspoiled natural beauty plus a couple tiny towns.
