"Cycle through one of our favorite regions in France on the Route Des Vins d’Alsace! Mais oui! Why not? Descriptions of ‘authentic’ and ‘adorable’ really don’t do these villages due praise with their gothic cathedrals, German-flavored half-timbered pastel houses, steep French roof-lines and hand-painted shutters and trim!
Alsatian people are historically cross-cultured between Germany and France, evident in towns you’ll visit with names like Niedermorschwihr, Soultzmatt and Katzenthal. In fact, the area changed nationalities four times in the last century alone.
Its easy to appreciate why in WWII the Allied forces particularly spared Colmar from bombing or shelling because of its significant art nouveau heritage. You’ll see this flowing style, inspired by nature, as you cycle through Colmar’s colorful old streets and enjoy its splendor.
Further on you’ll wander between villages through gorgeous kilometers of tidy vineyards. The terrain ranges from flat to hilly with some stops for sublime views. The video closes with a tour of the marvelously restored romantic castle Haut Koenigsberg." 82 minutes of "Wow"!
