Cycle around the beautiful island of Virgin Gorda. Virgin Gorda will “rock” your world. This tranquil, boulder-strewn Caribbean island is surrounded by some of the prettiest beaches and most colorful bays you may ever see! Plus, we apparently caught it in peak butterfly season for extra enchantment!
You’ll start at the ruins of the old copper mine perched on the rocky, windward southeast coast, cycling up from the dry southern tip of the island, catching glimpses of landscaped vacation villas and resorts among simple local abodes, and even take time out to climb through the granite boulder-caves at The Baths and Spring Bay National Park. It then gets very mountainous, particularly steep going over Gorda Peak to North Sound, Leverick Bay and Nail Bay where you’ll see other islands with names like Necker, Eustacia, Prickly Pear, Mosquito, The Dogs, and The Seals while you pedal around the roads’ array of bends and hills. And yes there are some bumps but the overlooks are fantastic! The small island of Virgin Gorda offers a wide variety of terrain for bright, sunny cycling in a timeless Caribbean paradise- why wait? Its a short-but-sweet 60 minutes.
