This multi-faceted collection combines five of the most historic and beautiful destinations in the nation!
It starts in cool Monterey Peninsula on Cannery Row (of John Steinbeck fame) and takes you right past Monterey Bay Aquarium, seeing carpets of fuchsia flowers along the rocky coast of Pacific Grove and picturesque, twisted cypress trees on dramatic 17-Mile Drive. Monterey is known for its awesome natural beauty, championship golf courses at Pebble Beach, the former Spanish capitol of California and of course Monterey Jack cheese. This unforgettable route, captured in late spring, is definitely worth many repeat viewings.
The Virginia City, NV ride starts easily enough, graduating to a steep 15% incline up Gold Hill by railroad relics, levels at the historic gold mining town, then goes into a fast-paced descent viewing colorful foothills and snow-capped Sierras. The enormous wealth of the Comstock Lode and the Consolidated Virginia Mine in the 1800s helped build San Francisco and finance the Union army of the Civil War. Virginia City was at that time a mining metropolis, with over 30,000 residents including Mark Twain and Bret Harte. Now you can experience this unique, well-preserved chapter of history while getting a excellent cardio session at the same time!
Natchez Trace Parkway is a centuries-old Indian trade route that’s now a perfect touring destination, captured for you in southern summer greenery. Your trip starts from the classic Mississippi river town of Natchez and heads northeast, passing emerald mound, native American burial mounds and ending at Mount Locust tavern, a tiny rustic inn that accommodated weary travelers in times past.
The Cadillac Mountain section continues “New England Autumn’s” journey through Acadia National Park with stunning fall colors and silky-smooth roads. The vistas of Frenchman Bay, Bar Harbor and lakes of Mount Desert Island are amazing on the way down from the top of the mountain. Bar Harbor has a colorful past from famous residents and visitors and is still desirable port of call for major cruise ships and windjammers alike.
And speaking of sailing... beware the swooping seagulls as you cycle right along the blue ocean in America’s Cup capitol of Newport, Road Island. The ride also treats you to views of roaring 20’s mansions such as where John and Jackie Kennedy were wed- a short but sweet ending to this collection of some true gems. 112 minutes of enjoyment! Bike-O-Vision journeys show exact routes at the very end of each dvd.
