Connemara, the lands spreading west and northwest of Galway, Ireland.
You will cycle an enchanting mix of misty coasts, rocky bogs, hidden lakes and untamed highlands. You’ll tackle the curves with views of the Twelve Pins (mountains) and go through the attractive harbor towns of Spiddal and Cliffden with their colorful buildings and BnB’s.
Farther north of here, the profusion of wild rhododendrons in peak bloom is something to see across hillsides and hanging over streams, especially near Kylemore Abby and along lochs and the majestic fjord on the way to Leenane. Don’t be surprised by trotting sheep and a family of swans sharing your roadway! Other oddities include rectangular cut-outs in the bog where peat is being dug for fuel.
The windswept way around Mullaghmore Head in County Leitrim is also included for its bold beauty. A short-but-sweet ride through the mysterious Dark Hedges in Northern Ireland rounds out this rollicking rove! 65 minutes in length
